Students at St. Francis Borgia Catholic School on the northwest side raised several hundred dollars to purchase LEMART first-aid kits for CPD officers. Here you'll see the November 2016 check presentation to the Chicago Police Foundation immediately after a Friday morning all-school Mass. Representing the Department are Commanders Bill Looney and Marc Buslik, along with Foundation representative Mary Ann Rose. Good job and THANK YOU, St. Francis Borgia Catholic School!
 

On Sunday, 11 DEC 2016, the Chicago Police Football Team (The Enforcers), in cooperation with the Chaplains Unit, hosted a Christmas Toy Drive at Murphy's Bleachers in Wrigleyville. The many toy donations will be given to The House of the Good Shepherd, an outreach of Catholic Charities of Chicago to women and children fleeing domestic violence.

On 05 DEC 2016, a Chicago Police Department member of Muslim faith presented to the Upper Room Club the history and heritage of his faith tradition. An interesting and informative evening was enjoyed by all in attendance. Thank you to Malnati's and Pizano's for their constant generous hospitality!

On 10 SEP 2016, the 8th graders at Bridgeport Catholic Academy  (attached to Fr. Dan Brandt's old parish, Nativity of Our Lord at 37th and Union)  hosted a fundraiser car wash. They raised well over the cost of one bulletproof vest for a Chicago Police Officer, in support of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's "Get Behind the Vest" initiative.

On a very busy Sunday, 04 SEP 2016, Fr. Dan Brandt had the pleasure of joining  PPO Martin Kudra and FTO Rob Economos on their tour in the south end of the 009th district.
A busy but rewarding night was enjoyed...even though it was so busy we didn't get a lunch.
 (What's up with that?!?!)
 

Like the vast majority of law-abiding, God-loving, tax-paying citizens, the good folks at  Most Holy Redeemer Church on 95th street are grateful for the police and the God-ordained service and protection they provide.
 

On Thursday, 14 JUL 2016, O'Brien's Restaurant and Bar (on Wells Street in Old Town) opened their patio to Police Chaplains Ministry for a happy hour fundraiser.
Thank you to O'Brien's for their incredible generosity...and thanks to all our supporters  who came out to enjoy a wonderful evening!

On Saturday, 25 JUN, Police Chaplains Ministry hosted hundreds of Gold Star Family members on a luncheon cruise aboard Spirit of Chicago. Afterward, we treated our guests to a ride on the new "Centennial Wheel" at Navy Pier. We will NEVER FORGET the sacrifice our Gold Star Families made.

PO Rick Francis memorial service
At 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, 02 JUL 2016, a memorial service was held at the corner of Belmont and Western, the exact time and place where eight years earlier, PO Rick Francis was murdered.
May he rest in peace, knowing that he, his sacrifice and his family will NEVER be forgotten.

On 05 JUN 16, Chaplain Kimberly Lewis-Davis was ordained to the Order of Deacon in the United Methodist Church, Northern Illinois Conference. The ordination took place at the UMC Northern Illinois Annual Conference held at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, Illinois. Chaplain Lewis-Davis is now a Deacon in full connection with the United Methodist Church.

The Chicago Police Enforcers football team played the Charlotte PD Cobras on  Saturday, 21 MAY 2016. While the host team lacked good sportsmanship, a good time was had by all.

On 16 MAR 2016, PO John Sullivan (008) and four members of the Garda  (police officers from Ireland) stopped by Resurrection Catholic Church on their way to O'Hare Airport.
Prayers were shared and a blessing over our guests was given for safe travels back to the Emerald Isle.

Following the ceremony was a Champagne toast.
The couples all cut into a huge wedding cake decorated with each of their names.
On St. Valentine's Day 2016, Chaplain Kimberly Lewis-Davis and Fr. Dan Brandt  celebrated a group wedding ceremony, marrying and renewing vows of 13 CPD couples.
The bagpipes and drums of the Emerald Society led the bridal procession in at the beginning of the event, and escorted the couples out afterward. Following the ceremony was a Champagne toast, after which the couples all cut into a huge wedding cake decorated with each of their names.
 

On 12 FEB 2016, a group of CPD members supported the 100 Club of Chicago  at the Chicago Auto Show preview night. A good time was had by all.  
 

Nora Tellez, an officer assigned to Court Services, was given permission to decorate one of the  glass display cases in the lobby area of Branch 23/Branch 50. Here is a picture of the case she designed, dedicated last month, honoring the 574 Chicago Police Officers who have died in the line of duty... take a look next time you're at Grand and Central. Nice job, Nora!

On New Year's Day 2016, the FOP hosted a police prayer service, at which the Pipes and Drums of the Emerald Society provided the music. What a great way to usher out 2015 and bring in the new year.
