21 OCT 2023: Quilts for Cops - Chicago chapter monthly
gathering in the 016th District Police Community Room.
Quilts for Cops is a nationwide organization whose team of
volunteers hand-assembles quilts to be given to police
officers seriously injured in the line of duty. Quilts for Cops was founded in 2016 by Bobbie Bebereia, a retired 911 dispatcher in Oregon. She is married to a retired deputy sheriff. She founded the organization knowing the risks police officers face in this most noble profession. The Chicago Police Chaplains Ministry and Quilts for Cops hope that these quilts will give some joy and comfort to our injured officers. We want the officers to know that there are people who care about them and appreciate their service and the sacrifices that they make. Quilts for Cops started a Chicago chapter on 17 July 2021, headed by retired Evidence Technician Marla Margelewski. Every third Saturday of the month, the quilters bring their sewing machines to the community room of the Chicago Police 016th District station and make quilts for our officers injured in the line of duty. We would like to thank all the quilters on the love, time and efforts they dedicate to these precious handmade quilts. Which has brought comfort to many officers and their families. Thanks to 016th District Commander Heather Daniel and retired Commander Marc Buslik for your continuous generous support. Thanks to all our donors. |
