Quilts for Cops was founded by
Bobbie Bebereia, a retired 911 Dispatcher at Oregon’s second
largest PSAP 911 center, to provide comfort to Law
Enforcement Officers and First Responders injured in the
line of duty. Since its inception in 2016, over 1700 quilts
have been given to First Responders across the nation. Recognizing a need in Chicago, retired Officer Marla Margelewski volunteered to organize a Chicago presence. The Police Chaplains Ministry is proud to offer support for this worthy cause. Chaplain Hysni Selenica will be working with Marla on this mission. Marla is a long arm quilter with years of experience and is familiar with the Quilts for Cops organization. As all charitable organizations, the Chicago Chapter is looking for support through donations. If you would like to support them with a cash donation, you can click >>HERE<< and please reference QFC in the Comments/ID section. For $200 you can sponsor a twin size quilt, which will include your family name sewn into the label. You can also donate fabrics or finished quilts, we have guidelines which have been set by the national foundation click >>HERE<< For more information, contact Marla directly via her cell phone 312.656.7089
If you are interested in participating in creating a quilt with the group please click >>HERE<< to learn about upcoming events. If you are a quilter that’s great! If you have never quilted but are interested in learning/participating you are welcome. Marla has some machines available for use. |
