19 OCT 2018: Under the direction of Ald. Ed Burke, Walnut Park at 3801 W. 45th Street is renamed Officer Irma C. Ruiz Park. Officer Ruiz was killed in the line of duty in 1988 during an altercation with a gunman at Montefiore School. May she rest in peace.
